A direct Support Professional or Personal Care Assistant works under the supervision of an Assisted Living Director and Registered Nurse and performs tasks that contribute to the client’s comfort and safety in the home. The DSP reports to the Nursing Supervisor.
Qualifications
1. Be at least eighteen (18) years of age.
2. Demonstrate the ability to read, write, follow a written plan of care and document tasks performed.
3. Be self-directed and work with minimal supervision.
4. Demonstrate dependability, tact, patience, and the ability to follow instructions.
5. Possess good interpersonal communication skills.
6. Have experience in cooking, cleaning, laundry, and shopping.
Essential Functions/Areas of Accountability:
1. Function within the limitations of the individual assignment.
2. Attend to the client’s request promptly.
3. Provide companionship, socialization and housekeeping services.
4. Assist with meal planning, purchase of food and food preparation.
5. Assist client to live in a clean, safe environment:
Cleaning bathrooms and kitchen, including refrigerator and stove
Personal errands
Laundry
Vacuum and dusting
Scrubbing floors
Changing bed linens
6. Know and follow infection control policies including proper handwashing techniques.
7. Maintain appropriate communication with the Nursing Supervisor (written and verbal) and with all members of the interdisciplinary team.
8. Document cares given and pertinent observations accurately as directed by the Care Plan/Nursing Supervisor.
9. Treat clients and families with respect and maintains confidentiality.
10. Accept and fulfill assignments with the Agency and exercise judgment in accepting assignments.
11. Attend required in-service programs per Agency policy.

Salary: $14.50 – $15.00 per hour
